Lobby Experience

Before entering the lobby of the W Guangzhou, you will already notice you’re arriving at an upscale hotel. Luxury cars filling up the parking lots, young fashionable people walking in and out the Hotel and house music will be awaiting you.

From the moment walking inside, the well-designed, fancy lobby area, will give you more of a club than a hotel lobby feeling. Also located in the lobby is W’s signature WOOBAR. Lots of comfortable seating and plenty of artwork will even satisfy the most critical guests. Check in was quick and I was offered an upgrade, as well as free breakfast.

Suite

As the W Guangzhou usually has a very high occupancy rate, I booked a 400 $ Fantastic Suite to make sure I can enjoy this stay to the fullest. I got upgraded to a 2000$ Marvelous Suite upon arrival, and yes, it is marvelous.

This 105sqm King Bed Suite offers a full kitchen with Miele appliances, dining area for 4 people, a spacious living room, 1.5 bathrooms and a huge balcony, that stretches over the entire width of the suite. Filled with artwork and designer furniture, W Signature Bed and B&O Tv’s, every aspect of bringing luxury to this suite was considered.

Bedroom

One of the reasons I like to stay in luxury hotels is the bed. The W Signature Bed is no different and is extremely comfortable. Easily electronic controlled curtains and blinds as well as dimmable lighting throughout the suite will make it easy for you to adjust the atmosphere in the room at any time of the day. The bedroom is also connected to the balcony and offers an additional seating area next to the window.

Living Room

The extremely spacious living room in the center of this suite offers enough space with seating for 10 plus people. Focusing on the younger jet setter generation, regular sized bottles of Absolute Vodka, Red Wine, Veuve Clicquot and cans of Red Bull, can all be found on the dining table and in the fridge in the kitchen. If you stay here for a longer time or you want to entertain friends, another big advantage of this suite is the full kitchen, fitted with a fridge and a freezer, microwave, oven, stove and even a dishwasher.

Bathroom

As in most suites, the Marvelous Suite offers one guest bathroom near the entrance and one master bathroom with tub and shower connected to the bedroom. All amenities are from Bliss and come in larger sized bottles than regular rooms.

Marriott Bonvoy’s Service and Benefits

Lounge

The W Guangzhou is one of the few W Hotels around the world offering a Club Lounge for Bonvoy’s Elite Members. Whatsoever, this is not your standard lounge, that you might expect from a Sheraton or Marriott Hotel. Just as the lobby area, this lounge stands out and differs itself from other hotels by its unique design. A full bar and dinner buffet are offered during happy hour every night. Friendly staff and great city views make it perfect.

W Guangzhou Lounge

As a Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite Member, I was offered a complimentary upgrade, free breakfast and 1000 bonus points. Members can also enjoy Club Lounge access for two.

For more information on the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, see this recent article.

Value

A regular room usually costs about 200$/night or 35000 points, valuating the points at just over 0.5 cents.

What do you think? Have you stayed at the W Hotel Guangzhou? How was your experience?
