I’m excited to share my recent journey flying back to Honolulu from San Francisco International Airport on Hawaiian Airlines’ new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Despite a minor hiccup with terminal information, the travel experience was impressive, especially from my seat in the Extra Comfort section, which offered notably more legroom—a real game-changer for long flights!

Enjoy the video below detailing my experience.

The Dreamliner itself boasts a layout with 34 Leihōkū Suites (which I reviewed going from HNL_SFO), 79 Extra Comfort Seats, and 187 economy seats. My favorite feature? The automatically shaded windows and the handy in-seat power outlet, made the 4-hour and 41-minute flight more enjoyable. I even got a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge shortly after takeoff, adding a scenic touch to the journey.

For in-flight dining, Hawaiian Airlines offered a cashless purchase system with a selection of popular items. Although they ran out of the rum punch drink I initially wanted, I ended up making my own with the provided ingredients, which turned out to be a delightful alternative. The complimentary breakfast, similar to a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich, was filling, although a bit oily for my taste.

Looking ahead, I’m hoping the add the Starlink WiFi which is already on their A321 Neo aircrafts and hope for an expanded movie selection. Flying on the 787 Dreamliner highlighted its superior features such as larger windows, mood lighting, and quieter cabin, making it my preferred choice for long-haul flights.

I’ve also recently reviewed the brand-new Renaissance Honolulu Hotel, so stay tuned for that post!
