I’ve been lucky enough to experience some incredible luxury hotels in Hawai‘i, from beachfront resorts with world-class spas to private lanais with sweeping ocean views.

But, as I went through the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Hotels in the USA 2025 rankings, I had to admit—none of the hotels I’ve stayed at made the cut.

Clearly, I need to step up my game.

Hawai‘i has long been synonymous with high-end hospitality, and this year’s U.S. News rankings prove it. Three of the top 10 hotels in the country are in the islands, including the #1 best hotel in the entire USA. If you’re looking for the pinnacle of luxury, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Hawai‘i’s Best Hotels According to U.S. News

The U.S. News & World Report Best Hotels in the USA 2025 list ranks properties based on a mix of expert travel recommendations, guest reviews, and star ratings. Their methodology prioritizes consistent excellence, ensuring that only the best of the best make the cut.

This year, Hawai‘i claimed three top spots:

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai (#1 Best Hotel in the USA)

It’s no surprise that Four Seasons Resort Hualalai took the crown. This Big Island resort is pure paradise, featuring seven stunning pools, a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, and private villas that feel like your own slice of heaven. The level of service here is legendary, and the oceanfront setting adds to its magic.

If you’re planning to stay, consider booking through the Four Seasons Preferred Partner program for exclusive perks like resort credits and room upgrades.

Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort (#3 Best Hotel in the USA)

Continuing to impress after a major renovation, Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort blends ultra-luxury with an authentic Hawaiian village aesthetic. Set on the Big Island’s Kona Coast, this resort is all about privacy, sustainability, and impeccable design. The thatched-roof bungalows (hale) are stunning, and the resort’s connection to Hawaiian culture makes it truly special.

For those considering a stay, booking through Rosewood Elite can provide added benefits like VIP treatment and room upgrades.

Four Seasons Resort Lanai (#10 Best Hotel in the USA)

Over on the secluded island of Lāna‘i, the Four Seasons Resort Lanai rounds out Hawai‘i’s top 10 spots. This resort offers an intimate, exclusive feel with jaw-dropping ocean views, world-class dining (hello, Nobu Lāna‘i), and some of the best snorkeling and hiking in the state.

Like its Hualalai counterpart, you’ll get the best experience by booking through a Four Seasons Preferred Partner.

O’ahu rarely makes the top 10 list, if ever, but the Halekulani did come in at #16, here is my list for the best luxury hotels on O’ahu.

Maui also didn’t make the top 10 but the Four Season Wailea did come in at #15, see the best luxury hotels on Maui.

Luxury Travel Done Right

If you’re planning to book a stay at one of these elite resorts, I highly recommend using a luxury travel advisor. Programs like Virtuoso, Four Seasons Preferred Partner, and Rosewood Elite offer exclusive perks that you won’t get by booking directly. Think complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, spa credits, and VIP treatment—because if you’re staying at one of the best hotels in the USA, you might as well enjoy the best experience possible.

Final Thoughts

Hawai‘i’s dominance in the 2025 U.S. News Best Hotels rankings is a testament to the islands’ commitment to world-class hospitality. Whether it’s the serene luxury of Hualalai, the cultural charm of Kona Village, or the private island escape of Lāna‘i, these resorts showcase the very best of what Hawai‘i has to offer. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some hotel bucket list planning to do.

Aloha, and welcome. Your journey around the web has brought you here, and I’m grateful for the chance to share a bit about Hawaiʻi with you. I do my best to provide thoughtful insights on hotels, airlines, dining, and the ever-evolving travel scene in Hawaiʻi.
